Replacing Your PCV Valve
*EASY*
The PCV valve should be replaced every 12 months according to the following procedure:
- Park the vehicle on level ground with the engine OFF, the parking brake engaged, and the transmission in PARK (for automatic) or REVERSE (for manual). Raise the hood.
- Consult your owner's manual for the exact location of the PCV valve. It will be located in a rubber hose that is connected to the carburetor or throttle body.
- Disconnect the PCV valve from the rubber hose to which it is attached. If the valve is completely plugged with deposits, remove the PCV hose and clean it with mineral spirits. Allow it to dry. Do not clean the hose with solvents.
- Insert the new PCV valve into the rubber hose. Be careful not to install it upside-down. Make sure the valve and hose are squarely seated.
- Insert the PCV valve back into the engine. Be sure the rubber grommet that holds the PCV valve is airtight. Close the hood.
